Watch: Taskin Ahmed dismissed Pakistan captain Babar Azam with a ball that came back in during the Asia Cup Super Four clash between the two sides on Wednesday (September 6), at Lahore.
Pakistan scored 194 runs to take their first Super 4 victory of the tournament, but lost to Fahar Zaman in nine overs, leaving Babar behind. The right-hander played cautiously, reaching 17 in his first 20 pitches and ending the inning with Tuskin’s beautiful batted ball.
The sailors sent more loads out of the stump, and Babar looked for propulsion. However, I hadn’t considered the forward swing, so the ball rebounded and hit the tip of the racket and the stump. The Pakistani captain, who scored 151 points in his last appearance in the tournament against Nepal, went 22-ball 17 when Takin took his sixth wicket in the 2023 Asian Cup.
Wicket finished Pakistan 74-2, but still needed 120 points to win. But after Babar’s dismissal, Imam Al-Haq and Mohammad Rizwan formed a strong 85-man partnership that brought them closer to achieving their goals. Imam was eventually sent off for 78 and Rizwan continued to register half a century before Pakistan reached goal with 10 overs to go.
