Watch: ‘Simply Brilliant’ – Sean Abbott Takes Full-Stretch, Full-Sprint One-Handed Boundary Stunner

Watch: Sean Abbott took a contender for “one of the best” catches during the South Africa-Australia third ODI, plucking out a one-handed stunner near the boundary rope on Tuesday (September 12).

Nathan Ellis’ fourth ball of the 47th over was a wide yorker that Marco Jansen steered towards cover and certainly looked like a six. But he didn’t consider Abbott. Abbott ran quickly from the sweeper’s cover and extended his left palm towards the ball.

He succeeded in grabbing the ball, but fell to the ground just a few millimeters from the rope. The decision was passed on to the third referee, who checked not only whether Abbott was inside the ropes, but also whether he was able to control the ball before it fell forward.

The umpire ultimately ruled in Abbott’s favor, and Jansen had to turn back to score a 15-ball 32, even as he covered his head with his hands in disbelief.
