Cancer research technologist realized dream in 2023 and received the icing on the cake Monday night in Morocco
Houston Dash defender Michelle Aloji has expressed her joy at being selected for the 2023 CAF Women’s First Team, Soccernet.ng reported.
Nigeria won the biggest award at the CAF Awards ceremony held in Marrakech, Morocco on Monday night.
Victor Osimhen and Asisat Oshoala were named Africa’s best players in the men’s and women’s categories respectively.
Paris FC’s Chiamaka Nnadojie won the Best Goalkeeper award as the Super Falcons emerged as the continent’s best women’s national team.
Another honor that many may have missed in the excitement of the night was the Team of the Year award, which featured three Nigerians in the women’s category.
Aloji was used as a right-back alongside central defender Osinachi Ohare and center forward Oshoala.
This is a truly remarkable achievement for a molecular biology graduate who made his international debut just two years ago after sustaining a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament, an injury so serious that it almost ended his career before it even began.
Aloji, who made a good impression as a member of Nigeria’s team at the FIFA Women’s World Cup held in Australia, where Nigeria went undefeated in the group stage and became Africa’s first champion, shared her joy on Twitter.
