Red Bull has homecoming; completes pitch black pit stop

Red Bull has completed the return of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez after their 2023 F1 victory, including a pitch-black pit stop.

Red Bull celebrated homecoming with Verstappen, Perez and Christian Horner in Milton Keynes on Tuesday to celebrate winning the Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships for the 2023 F1 season. They celebrated with the whole team at the factory.

They also filmed a special video with the drivers celebrating their record success in F1 in 2023. The team also shared what they did during the season. They completed a “pitch-black” pit stop with their racing crew.

They were completely enveloped in darkness, and the visors on the pit crew’s helmets were also blacked out, limiting visibility. They had to rely on teamwork, ambient noise, and positioning to make the perfect pit stop in complete darkness.

Equipped with 27 special cameras and a pit crew of 22 people, they completed a total of 10 attempts and achieved a pit stop within 3 seconds. He initially set a record of 8.84 seconds, but after 10 attempts, it dropped to 4.493 seconds. In a movie-like situation, they managed to make the pit stop in 2.84 seconds on their last attempt.

“The all-black pit stop was a challenge we literally couldn’t have imagined as a race team, but in typical Red Bull fashion we expected the unexpected,” said team manager Jonathan. Wheatley said. “Visibility, the ability to see the car, your teammates and what you’re doing is essential to a successful pit stop, so taking that away was some serious hurdles. p>

“But what quickly became apparent was how flexible the team’s approach, communication, skills and cohesion was. The challenge became almost self-evident. I was very proud. A time of 2.84 seconds is a solid stop even in broad daylight! Of course, I’m not saying I’d like to turn off the lights during a race, but it was great to be able to do it so simply and in total darkness. That shows what a well-oiled machine our crew is and is testament to the fact that we like to turn off the lights during races. Winner of DHL’s Fastest Pit Stop Award 6 times in a row It’s a beautiful piece of work.”
