Portuguese officials appointed for Super Eagles vs. Saudi Arabia friendly

Nigeria will be looking for their first win against the Green Falcons when the two teams meet in Portugal next week

FIFA has appointed Portuguese referee Luis Godinho as the referee for the next international friendly match between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia, Soccernet.ng reported.

The Super Eagles will face the Asian Falcons in a match scheduled to be held on October 13 at the Estadio Municipal de Portimao. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.

The announcement was made in a statement by the Nigeria Football Federation Public Relations Director, Ademola Orazia, in Abuja on Thursday.

Godinho is supported by a talented team of referees, including Bruno Jesus as first assistant referee, Thiago Costa as second assistant referee and Miguel Noguera as fourth official. In the video assistant referee’s room, Helder Carvalho will take the lead, supported by Bruno Vieira.

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peceiro has already named a 25-man squad for the international match.

Notable new additions include Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface and OGC Nice star Terem Moffi.

Fisayo Dele Bashir and Jordan Tornalija could stand out in this match as players who could make their debut for the Super Eagles.

However, captain Ahmed Musa and vice-captain William Troost-Ekon were not invited to the match. Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi and Nantes winger Moses Simon are expected to replace the duo.

The friendly match between Saudi Arabia and Nigeria will be the second ever meeting between the two countries.

The first meeting between the two sides was a 2010 FIFA World Cup pre-friendly match held at the Alpenstadion in Wattens, Austria, on May 25, 2010, which ended in a goalless draw.

Three days after the match against Saudi Arabia, the Super Eagles will play Mozambique’s Manbas in another friendly at the same venue.
