Alex Iwobi moved from Merseyside to Craven Cottage on deadline day in last summer’s transfer window, ending his five-year spell at Everton.
Super Eagles and Fulham attacking midfielder Alex Iwobi has revealed that advice given to him by his father when he was a young player helped him stay financially smart, saysSoccernet.ng< /strong> reports.
Iwobi, 27, grew up as a footballer at Arsenal’s famous Hale End Academy and made his debut as a 19-year-old teenager in 2015.
He made 149 appearances for the club, winning the FA Cup in 2017 and scoring in the club’s heartbreaking UEFA Europa League final defeat to Chelsea in Baku.
In the summer of 2019, he moved from Arsenal to Everton for a whopping £35 million and went on to make more than a century in the English Premier League for the Merseysiders.
He moved to Fulham four years later and appears to be enjoying life under Marco Silva, having been involved in three goals in his last three games.
On Hoyle Boys Podcast, Iwobi shared his off-field experiences and claimed that his father taught him to be cautious.
“When I was 16, I went out to dinner with friends and it cost around £40. I offered to pay but the account was found to be empty so my card was declined. As soon as I signed my first professional contract, my father told me to invest, and that helped me a lot. “I thank God for my father.” the Super Eagles midfielder shared on the podcast.
Now at the peak of his powers, Iwobi hopes to secure a place in Fulham’s top half of the league table at the end of the season.
