India cricketer Mayank Agarwal was deplaned and hospitalised immediately in Agartala today (January 30) after reportedly complaining of a burning sensation in his mouth following consuming liquid from a bottle onboard a flight. Here’s what we know so far.

What happened?

Mayank was reportedly on board the IndiGo flight from Agartala to Surat for Karnataka team’s 2023-24 Ranji Trophy match against Railways starting on Friday (February 2). There is. After drinking what appeared to be drinking water, he complained of abdominal pain and a burning sensation in his throat and mouth. After a bout of vomiting, Mayank was immediately removed from the plane along with his team manager and taken to a private hospital in Agartala where he was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

He is said to be out of immediate danger, but Times Now reports that he has difficulty speaking. He will also undergo some tests and may return to Bangalore for further tests.

Mayank is also expected to miss Karnataka’s next match against Ranji. He has played 26 international matches for India, his last appearance being two years ago in the Test series at home against Sri Lanka.
