Watch: Will Young took a flying one-handed catch at the boundary line to dismiss Shoriful Islam during the first NZ vs BAN ODI, at Dunedin.

Will Young (105 off 84 balls) and Tom Latham (77 off 92 pitches) contributed to New Zealand’s recovery.

As the rain continued to fall, New Zealand eventually reached 239-7 in the regulation 30 overs. Bangladesh’s target has been adjusted to 245.

Bangladesh looked for quick runs from the start and lost wickets regularly. Soumya Sarkar managed 43 off his 39 balls, Towhid Hridoy (33 off 27 balls) and he Afif Hossain (38 off 28 balls) also contributed.

With the score 174-7 after 26 overs, the match was almost over, but the match continued in the dim light. As Adam Milne ran to bowl, Shoriful came out and hit a shot past midwicket where Young was.

Young misjudged the ball, probably because of the light, and sprinted away. Then, when he realized the ball was flying over him, he ran backwards. When he realized that the ball would still fall some distance away, he threw himself down, keeping the ball just a few centimeters from the ground and the rope.

Bangladesh finished with 200 wins and 9 losses. Young was named Player of the Game.
