Watch: Rishabh Pant walked out to bat to a standing ovation in his comeback game in IPL 2024 today (Match 23).
Returning from a life-threatening accident, Pant made a much-awaited comeback to cricket today (March 23) during the IPL 2024 match between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC).
Pant had been declared fit to play as a wicketkeeper-batter in IPL 2024 around two weeks before the start of the season by the BCCI, much to the delight of fans worldwide.
Delhi lost the toss and were sent in to bat by Shikhar Dhawan, the PBKS captain. They lost their second wicket on the last ball of the eighth over, at the score of 74, bringing Pant to the crease.
As he walked out to bat, he was given a standing ovation and a rousing reception by the crowd at a venue that is supposed to be the home ground of the opposition.
Pant hit two boundaries in a short but entertaining stay, getting out for 18 off 13 balls off the bowling of Harshal Patel.
At the time of writing, DC are 117-5 from 14 overs.
