Watch: Hardik Pandya sent off Imam-ul-Haq after getting him caught behind in the 13th over of the India-Pakistan game at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad today (October 14).

Pakistan got off to a safe start in the much-awaited India vs Pakistan match in the 2023 World Cup after losing the toss and being sent into bat. Abdullah Shafiq looked consistentcontinuing his good form from the previous match against Sri Lanka in Hyderabadand Imam Al Haq finally seemed to have found his rhythm.

However, both openers were removed before achieving significant results. Shafiq was narrowly caught by Mohammed his Siraj in his 8th over of the innings, while Pandya promptly dismissed Imam after reaching a boundary in his 13th over.

Pandya, whose natural length is as long as his back, was reduced to four by Imam on the second ball of the 13th over. On the next ball he corrected his length and threw wider and more diagonally over the left ball.

Imam came forward to shoot the ball on the offside but could only get an outside edge after KL Rahul blocked the ball safely. When the imam returned, Hardik waved his hand and said something like “Thank you very much” before bidding him farewell.

In recent years, India vs Pakistan has been a series of friendly matches on the field, but this is not the first time that a red card has occurred in a recent match. Last month, Haris Rauf aggressively sent off Ishan Kishan in the canceled Asia Cup match.

Imam’s wicket today came in the bottom of Pakistan’s second innings, after which the score was 73-2. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan then forged an 82-run partnership for his three wickets, resulting in figures of 155 for 3.
