During a Legends League cricket match in Ranchi, Chris Gayle hit Colin de Grandhomme to midwicket for six single-handed overs.
Gujarat Giants opted to bowl at the Jharkhand Cricket Association Stadium and restricted Manipal Tigers to 173 for 8. For Manipal, Hamilton Masakadza had 37 hits off 18 balls, Thisara Perera had 32 hits off 17 balls, and Rajat Bhatia finished with 3 wins and 31 losses.
When Chris Gayle (44 years old) took to the bat with Jacques Kallis, both players improved from the start. Kallis dismissed Mitchell McClenaghan for four and went on to win in five overs.
For the next over, Colin de Grandhomme came to bowl. Gayle hit his two boundaries in his first five balls and his third ball in the sixth ball, which resulted in a no-ball.
When de Grandhomme took a free-kick in front of the stumps, Gayle simply stepped back to parry the move. His forehand came off the bat during the swing, but the force was enough to send the ball over the midwicket fence.
Gale was eventually bowled by Imran Khan for 24-ball 38. Gujarat fell from 75-0 to 99-3, but Kallis and Parthiv Patel kept them in the game. The second strategic timeout required 24 to 26 balls, with Kallis (54 from 38 balls) and Parthiv (32 from 21 balls) coming together at the crease.
