Virat Kohli Equals Kumar Sangakkara’s Historic Feat In ODI Cricket After A Half-Century Against Australia In The 3rd ODI

Indian batting champion Virat Kohli returned to the Indian team after a break in the first two matches of the series and scored a brilliant 50 runs. Virat currently has the highest number of his 50-plus scores in the fifty-over format as a non-opener.

Virat Kohli has equaled former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara’s huge record. Kohli and Sangakkara currently have 112 of his 50+ points in ODI cricket, with Australian legend Ricky Ponting coming in at his third spot in the list.

In the overall list, Virat Kohli ranks third in the list with a score of over 50, behind the legendary Sachin Tendulkar and Kumar Sangakkara. Early in the match in Rajkot, Virat Kohli batted very well against Australia in the last ODI, scoring 56 runs off 61 balls, before being beaten by RCB teammate Glenn Max in the 27th over of the match. He was sent off by Well and former India captain Will. His next ODI World Cup to be held in India has a chance to break a number of records.

Virat Kohli currently has 47 tonnes and 66 half-centuries, while Sangakkara’s 118 tonnes includes 25 and 93 centuries. Sachin Tendulkar, the Indian legend, has played his 96 half-centuries and 49 centuries in ODI cricket competition.

The 34-year-old will have a chance to surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most games in the 50-over format. After Tendulkar bid adieu to the game, Kohli took over the reins and carried on the legacy of the Master Blaster.

Kohli has a good chance of surpassing Sachin Tendulkar‘s hundreds in 2023. If he is at his best in the ODI World Cup, there is no reason why he should not record his third ODI century and extend that record to his fifty in this famous event.

Tendulkar is the all-time leading run-getter in ODIs with 18,426 runs in 463 matches at an average of 44.83. Kohli may have a few more years of cricket left in him, but with 13,083 runs so far at an average of 57.4, the Indian batting champion will play a key role for the Indian team on home soil in the ODI World Cup. It is expected that this will be fulfilled.
