Victor Boniface moves from Royal Union SG to Bayer Leverkusen in the summer transfer window
Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface considers Florian Wirtz to be a key influence on his decision to move to Bayer Leverkusen, Soccernet.ng reports.
The Nigerian striker moved from Royal Union SG to Bayer Leverkusen for a transfer fee of around 20 million euros during the summer transfer window.
Boniface and Wirtz have formed a great partnership at the Bundesliga club and have contributed greatly to Xabi Alonso’s side, who are currently at the top of the table.
Since joining from Union SG in the summer, former Bodø/Glimt player Boniface has been in exceptional form, scoring seven goals and providing five assists in just 12 games.
In an interview with Sportbuzzer, Boniface praised Wirtz’s footballing talent and highlighted the German player’s influence on his decision to join Leverkusen.
“Flo[lian Wertz] is a great football player and a magician. When my agent mentioned my interest in Bayer, the opportunity to play with him was an opportunity I couldn’t resist. “It was,” he explained.
The Nigerian striker expressed his admiration for Wirtz’s skills after their first match together, reinforcing his belief in a move to Bayer Leverkusen.
Their on-field partnership not only improved Leverkusen’s performance, but also highlighted the relationship between Bonifati and Wirths, which plays a key role in the club’s success in the league.
