Victor Bonifati has not scored in his last two matches for the club, but his goal against BK Hakken ended his goal drought< /p>
Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has moved into the top five scorers in the Europa League after his goal against Hacken, reports Soccernet.ng.
Boniface was previously the top scorer in the Europa League in the 2022-23 season and will be looking to repeat his impressive run after scoring the fourth goal against the Swedish team.
Brighton Albion’s Joao Pedro currently leads the table with five goals in five games, sharing top spot with Olympique Marseille’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who also has five goals.
Fotis Ioannidis, Romelu Lukaku, Vincenzo Grifo and Victor Boniface are in third place after playing five games each. However, unlike Ioannidis and Grifo, Boniface’s four goals include only one goal from his penalty kick.
Boniface ended a four-game goal drought, including internationals against Lesotho and Zimbabwe, with the opening goal in Xabi Alonso’s side’s 2-0 away win.
Since joining the Bay Arena, the Nigeria international has continued to impress, winning the Player of the Month award three times and also winning the Newcomer of the Month award.
Boniface has seen a decline in his goal streak of late, but he will be hoping to build on his recent performances when Leverkusen take on Borussia Dortmund on Sunday.
