A Delhi family court on Wednesday granted divorce to cricketer Shikhar Dhawan and his estranged spouse. The court also ruled that the plaintiff (Shikhar Dhawan) was entitled to divorce on the ground of cruelty. Their 11-year marriage was divorced by the family court.
Shikhar Dhawan fell in love with Melbourne-based amateur kickboxer Ayesha Mukerji and they married in 2012. Mukherji had two children from a previous marriage and she was 12 years older than Dhawan. However, in September 2021, the couple separated. The couple has a son named Zoraval who was born in December 2014.
The two parties have been living together since 2020, and as both parties have agreed to amicably separate, the family court has issued a detailed statement regarding the divorce.
“There is no doubt that both parties had agreed to an amicable divorce, otherwise their marriage would have broken down long ago and since August 8, 2020 We do not live together as a couple.”< /p>
“A conscious decision by the defendant or his estranged wife to leave the issue unchallenged means that the court will not grant a divorce decree even at the expense of a conviction for a marital violation. “Even if she is accused of treating the complainant cruelly, she has already received sufficient compensation from the Federal District Court and Family Court of Australia. He is under active orders and poses no risk of harm.”
“This feeling for her gave her the courage to knowingly and willfully disobey the orders of this court dated March 2, 2023 and June 6, 2023.” If so based on the present facts and circumstances set out above, the plaintiff is entitled to divorce on the ground of cruelty. ”
The court noted the plaintiff’s request for permanent custody of their minor son, and determined that the defendant’s minor son, who had consistently acted against the son’s welfare since his birth, remained with the defendant. found it to be ethically, psychologically and psychologically unjust. It was devastating. It is also argued that the fact that the criminal case against the defendant was still pending was an important factor in the plaintiff’s favor.

Shikhar Dhawan fell out of favor with the Indian team due to his poor form after Shubman Gill played as the all-format opener for the Indian team. Dhawan’s last appearance for India was on the tour of Bangladesh, where he scored just 18 runs in three matches and captained the Punjab Kings in the IPL as a left-handed batsman.
