Max Verstappen set the fastest time in FP1 of the Mexican Grand Prix, but was far behind Alexander Albon, with Sergio Perez in third place.

At the Mexican Grand Prix on a normal weekend, half the F1 field would drive FP1 drivers, with Red Bull’s Max Verstappen setting the pace with a lap of 1 minute 19.718 seconds, with Alexander unexpectedly taking second place. – Only 0.095 seconds faster than Albon Williams.

Verstappen had a small problem with the pedals, but it didn’t bother him too much as teammate Sergio Perez finished third ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris. The Briton also complained of speed issues early on, but ran smoothly throughout the session.

Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc missed the first part due to suspected engine trouble and finished fifth. The other Ferrari also had problems with its hydraulic system. Carlos Sainz was seventh behind McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, who set a personal best time on the C4 prototype compound.

AlphaTauri’s Daniel Ricciardo finished 8th ahead of Alpine’s Esteban Ocon, Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll completed the top 10, and Lewis Hamilton’s first Mercedes finished 11th. Haas’ Nico Hulkenberg made up for the loss on the final lap and finished 12th.

Alfa Romeo’s Zhou Guanyu was 13th, ahead of the other Williams in Logan Sargent, who was more than a second off Albon. His first F1 rookie was Oliver, who took over Haas from Kevin Magnussen at Bearman where he finished 15th.

Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso was only 16th, but spent a lot of time in the pits while mechanics worked on his car. He led rookies Isaac Hajjar, Jack Doohan and Frédéric Vesty in AlphaTauri, Alpine and Mercedes cars.

They replaced Hiroki Tsunoda, Pierre Gasly and George Russell, but Alfa Romeo’s Theo Purchere had his steering wheel replaced due to a brake system issue that the team struggled to fix. However, I was unable to record a time. He was replaced by Valtteri Bottas.

The session went smoothly throughout, although there were a few riders who hit curbs or slipped, and some who timed out. Although Tsunoda did not start, he started with a new ICE, TC, MGU-H, MGU-K, ES, and CE, but because all new components exceeded the specified number, he would receive a grid penalty. . p >
