UFC 296 Fight Card Revealed: Edwards vs. Covington and More Confirmed Bouts Await

UFC’s top man Dana White has officially given the go-ahead for a welterweight showdown. Colby Covington, who has a record of 17-3, will take on reigning champion Leon Edwards in the main event of UFC 296 on December 16, 2023. Covington’s return to the Octagon following his March 2022 win over Jorge Masvidal will take place at his legendary T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Additionally, the co-main event of UFC 296 will feature a flyweight title fight between Alexandre Pantoja and Brandon Roybal. Pantoja, a Brazilian who won a thrilling bout against Mexico’s Brandon Moreno in July, will be defending his title for the first time. As if that wasn’t enough, another exciting battle was confirmed with Wonder Boy eagerly seizing the opportunity, adding even more fuel to the already stacked card.

When the UFC offered Stephen Thompson the opportunity to face Shavkat Rakhmonov, he immediately accepted the offer. The fighter quickly made his decision public, sharing the news in a social media post, writing, “UFC has made an offer and II have accepted this.” @Rakhmonov1994Let’s end this year strong. I can’t wait for December 16th. ”

Stephen Thompson accepted the UFC’s offer to face Shavkat Rakhmonov, a fight that had been discussed for some time but never materialized. Thompson, currently ranked No. 8 in the world, will ultimately face Rachmonov, who is ranked No. 4 in the world MMA fighting rankings and boasts an impressive 5-0 record in the UFC.

And finally, the fight between Tony Ferguson and Paddy Pimblett has been confirmed. Pimblett is undefeated in the UFC, but came under heavy criticism for his decision win over Jared Gordon in December. Since then, he has been sidelined due to injury. Tony Ferguson, on the other hand, has to come to terms with his recent six-game losing streak against Bobby Green. It may be disproportionate, but at the same time it caused a lot of excitement.
