The white ball event will be held at three stadiums: Headingley in Leeds, Trent Bridge in Nottingham and the County Ground in Bristol.
England named an inexperienced team and appointed comeback man Zak Crawley as captain. Crawley was credited with reviving Test batting under coach Brendon McCullum. He was England’s top scorer in this year’s Ashes (480 runs average, 53.33 average, strikeouts 88.72) and returned to the ODI squad after a two-year break. His deputy partner is Ben Duckett, first class opening partner.
The 13-man squad will feature up to four players making their first appearances: batsman Sam Hayne, gloveman Jamie Smith, fast bowler George Scrimshaw and left-arm conditioning pitcher Tom Hartley.
World Cup hopeful Harry Brook is in the spotlight as he is given the chance to break into manager Jos Buttler’s squad for the mega event. As per International Cricket Council (ICC) guidelines, September 28th will be the final date to decide on the squad.
Ireland have announced their 15-player squad, led by opening pitcher Paul Stirling.
When both teams met in an ODI series in 2020, England won 2-1.
