The next Africa Regional Qualifier will be held from November 22nd to 30th. Seven African teams will battle it out to secure the final two spots for the 2024 ICC Men’s World Cup.
Zimbabwe and hosts Namibia have qualified for the regional finals based on their participation in the 2022 Men’s T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, Uganda has also received a bye into the final stage of the 2022 World Qualifiers based on their final standings. Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Nigeria will be the three teams in the tournament who will aim to qualify for his T20 World Cup to be held in America and the Caribbean.
Sikandar Raza replaced Shaun Irwin as Zimbabwe’s men’s T20 captain after a disappointing series loss to Namibia ahead of the African qualifiers. They will be further boosted by the return of key players such as Blessing Muzarabani and Sean Williams, who did not feature in the pre-season series.
Meanwhile, Gerhard Erasmus’ Namibia will aim to continue their good performance against Zimbabwe. On 30 October, Namibia, defending with a paltry 101 runs, outscored their opponents by just 93 runs thanks to left-arm pair JJ Smit and Bernard Scholz, with both players taking three wickets each and scoring the famous three. They won the series with two wins and two losses.
