Mujeeb-ur-Rahman was also ruled out of the series after spraining his right hand before the start of the ODI series. Mohamed Saleem also did not recover from injury in time for the series.

Afghanistan was without Ikram Alikil and Rahmat Shah in the last series against India. Mohammad Ishaq was called up as wicketkeeper in place of Alikhil, while Wafadar was selected in place of Mohmand Saleem.
