Nigerian legend Austin Jay Jay Okocha will rub shoulders with some of the world’s greatest soccer players of all time at the Match of Legends in Colombia this weekend, Soccernet.ng reports.
The “Match of Legends” is organized to pit football legends from all over the world against Colombian football heroes.
Okocha joins former Paris Saint-Germain teammate Ronaldinho Gaucho, Barcelona star Rivaldo, former Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder and former Manchester United star Juan Veron in the world’s He will be representing a legend.
Colombia Legends features famous soccer players such as Rene Higuita, Camilo Zuniga, Leonel Álvarez, Aldo Leo Ramirez, and Choronta Restrepo.
According to Cubo Medellín, the match, one of the biggest sporting events in Colombia’s history, will be held on Saturday, December 16th at the Atanasio Giraldo Stadium in Medellín.
Okocha is considered one of the greatest playmakers in African history and continues to enjoy greater importance and popularity years after his retirement.
The former Bolton Wanderers midfielder was invited to play in ‘The Beautiful Game’ charity match at Orlando City’s Exploria Stadium earlier this year, much to the delight of Ronaldinho and thousands of fans.
During his successful playing career, Okocha represented Eintracht Frankfurt, Fenerbaijan, PSG, Bolton Wanderers and Hull City.
He was also an integral part of the Nigeria national team for over 15 years, winning gold medals at the 1994 African Cup of Nations and the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
