“Strong game” – Super Eagles striker hails Leicester’s performance in Blackburn win

Leicester’s strong form in the Sky Bet Championship has seen them pick up three points from all but one of their league games this season.

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho has praised his team-mates and the club’s coaching staff for their mesmerizing all-round performance in his side’s 4-1 win over BlackburnSoccernet .ngreported.

In a thrilling clash between two teams who have previously won the English Premier League, Leicester City won away with Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi contributing to the team’s goals.

Wout Fayze scored the Foxes’ first goal within four minutes, and soon afterwards Ndidi produced a superb performance to set up club legend Jamie Vardy for the Blues’ second goal.

Kelechi Iheanacho scored his second league goal of the season from a penalty kick after Jannik Westergaard was dragged into the penalty area. He took a side-footed penalty into the left corner of the goal, hitting the wrong side of the goalkeeper.

 

A tricky chip from Keenan Dewsbury-Hall gave Enzo Maresca’s side their eighth league win of the season, but Iheanacho insists it was no easy task considering the result.

“We struggled in the first half. We struggled a lot, but we were able to take a 2-1 lead at the half.” The Nigerian player said on the club’s official website, “It was a strong game, but in the second half we were in control. “He improved, controlled the counter-attacks well and scored the goal he wanted,” he told the club’s official website.

The 26-year-old spoke about the team’s overall performance and praised everyone who made the team work. He pointed to Ndidi’s creativity and Vardy’s deadly finishing.

However, the journey is not over for the former Manchester City striker and he hopes the Foxes continue their good form. he said;

Leicester’s League Cup ambitions came to an end last week with defeat to Liverpool, but with 24 points from their first nine games they are well placed to qualify for the Championship.
