Shubman Gill set to miss Afghanistan match as well; fails to recover in time

BCCI has provided a medical update on Shubman Gill’s illness which caused him to miss the opening match of ICC World Cup 2023 between India and Australia to be held in Chennai on October 8, 2023 .

Gill has been suffering from a fever for the past few days and has been ruled out of the World Cup match between India and Australia at the Massachusetts Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. In the match against Australia, Ishan Kishan replaced the opening batsman and was paired with Indian captain Rohit Sharma.

Shubman Gill, the leading run-getter in 2023 ODIs, contracted dengue fever during the warm-up match for the 2023 CWC tournament.

Before the India vs Australia match, captain Rohit Sharma said: “Gil is not 100 percent, but he is sick. So there is no risk of injury. Gil is not feeling well. We are monitoring him every day. We are giving him every chance to recover. , confirm his feelings. Therefore, he is not ruled out yet. ”
