Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Indian dressing room after India’s defeat to Australia in the 2023 World Cup on Sunday.
Shortly after his team’s heartbreaking defeat in the final, Narendra Modi faced visibly shaken Indian players at the stadium of the same name in Ahmedabad. Rohit, who has won 10 out of 10 matches in the World Cup so far, and his Sharma team lost to Australia, leaving the over 92,000 spectators stunned and his Indian team in tears.
A video released on Tuesday shows PM Modi delaying the celebrations, leaving Pat Cummins alone without the trophy as he went to shake hands with the victorious Australian team, and then leaving the Indian dressing room open, where He is seen talking to captain Rohit. and the tournament’s best player, Virat Kohli.
After that, he shook hands with the other members. “I was hoping to see everyone. Loses happen. Things like this happen all the time and it only boosts the morale of all players.”
Mohammed Shami hugged him, said, “You did a great job,” and invited the team to his home in Delhi.
This event received mixed reactions from social media users.

Unpopular opinion, but the dressing-room is literally the only private and safe space left for the players and support staff. It should be theirs and theirs only.

team. @ICC does not allow anybody
to enter these rooms apart
from the players and the

Regarding the PM Modi entering the Indian dressing room, there’s a precedence. Helmut Kohl went to the German change rooms after the 1986 final. Angela Merkel went in after 2006 & in 2014.

Macron visited French dressing room after World Cup final loss, Grabar-Kitarovic celebrated Croatian wins in their dressing room during 2018 and hugged every player after final loss. Modi’s gesture of visiting the dressing room after final loss was quite normal. It happens now
