Roger Binny, Rajeev Shukla in Pakistan for Asia Cup 2023, clarify visit not political

As part of a major sports development, BCCI President Roger Binney and Vice President Rajeev Shukla visited Pakistan. The visit is firmly rooted in the sports arena and has absolutely no political intentions.

Vice President Rajeev Shukla said, “This two-day visit is purely from a cricket perspective and not political. A dinner was held and three teams from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh I plan to attend.”

Viney, who is visiting Pakistan for the first time since then, said: “I was in Colombo to see the Sri Lankan game and I am looking forward to the visit.”

The Indian cricket team’s decision not to travel to Pakistan for the tournament was also addressed. When asked about this and the possibility of such a tour in the future, Rajeev Shukla replied: “We will follow the government’s advice and implement whatever the government decides.”

Asia Cup 2023 will be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka from 30 August to 17 September. The tournament he is divided into two groups. Group A includes Pakistan, Nepal and India while Group B includes Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.

India will play Nepal in their final group game on Monday at Palekele International Cricket Stadium.
