PSL 2024, the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League, will be held from February 17 – here is the list of captains for all six franchises.
The six franchises in PSL 2024 (also known as PSL 9) are defending champions Lahore Qalandars, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi, Islamabad United, Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans.
Like the previous edition, a total of 34 matches will be held in this tournament in Karachi, Multan, Rawalpindi and Lahore. After two rounds of round-robin leagues, the top four teams will advance to the playoffs. After the preliminaries and his two eliminators, the final will be held on March 18th at his Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
Many foreign players have already withdrawn from PSL 2024 for various reasons, creating a last-minute headache for franchises. Players who will miss part or all of the tournament after being initially selected for the squad include Tabraiz Shamsi, Jamie Overton, Lungi Ngidi and Wanindu Hasaranga.
Although most teams retained their previous captains, there was a change in leadership for Quetta Gladiators. Ahead of the new season, Sarfaraz Ahmed has been replaced as Gladiators’ captain by Riley Rossouw, the most successful foreign batsman in the competition. Sarfaraz was named the team’s official captain at his PSL draft in December, but his eight-year stint in the role came to an end.
