Osimhen, Moffi, Boniface lead Fulham, Real Sociedad, Milan stars to Super Eagles camp for Saudi Arabia friendly

The three-time African champions are scheduled to play two international friendlies in the coming days in preparation for AFCON 2023

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen led 20 players to the Super Eagles camp in Portugal ahead of a double-header friendly against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique, Soccernet.ng reported.

Nigeria will take on Asian giants Saudi Arabia at the Estadio Municipal de Portimao on October 13, while three days later the Super Eagles will take on African rivals Mozambique at the Estadio Municipal de Albufeira.

Head coach Jose Peceiro invited 25 players to the two games. However, Nottingham Forest’s Taiwo Awonih and Olaaina, as well as Cardiff City’s full-back Jamil Collins, were forced to miss out due to injury.

Real Sociedad striker Oumar Sadiq, Empoli right-back Tyron Ebouehi and Boavista defender Sidozi Awaziem have been named as his replacements.

All three players were among the first to enter the Super Eagles camp in Portimao when it began on Tuesday.

They join Fulham stars Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey, OGC Nice striker Terem Moffi and Atalanta striker Ademola Lookman, who also landed in Portugal.

Napoli star Osimhen and AC Milan winger Samuel Chukwueze also joined Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface, Nantes star Moses Simon, Boavista full-back Bruno Onyemaesi, Fenerbahce right-back He is participating in the camp along with Buck and Bright Osayu-Samuel.

The arrivals of Turkey-based Kenneth Omeruo, Championship stars Semi Ajayi, Wilfred Ndidi, Joe Aribo and goalkeeper Francis Uzoho have also been confirmed.

Despite initial injury concerns, KAA Gent’s Jordan Tornalija and Club Brugge’s Rafael Onyedika also strolled into the Super Eagles camp.

However, newly invited Hatayaspor FC midfielder Fisayo Dele Bashir, Leicester City star Kelechi Iheanacho and Frank Onyeka are yet to report to camp.

Goalkeepers Olorunleke Ojo and Adelayi Adebayo also remain unconfirmed.
