The Super Eagles will play against Saudi Arabia on Friday. Omeruo is happy to be playing against the Super Eagles.
Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo is excited about the warm-up match against Saudi Arabia ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations starting next January, reported Soccernet.
Nigeria will play Saudi Arabia on Friday at the Estadio Municipal de Portimao in Portugal. The match is one of his preparatory matches for the three-time African champion ahead of his AFCON 2023 to be held in Ivory Coast next January.
Saudi Arabia still has a poor record in soccer, and their best result was defeating Argentina in the 2022 World Cup.
However, Super Eagles defender Omeruo believes the Asian country will be a good test for Nigeria.
“I think this is a good step. “There have been a lot of changes in the Saudi team,” Omeruo said in the pre-match press conference
.
“We all saw them win a game against Argentina in the 2022 World Cup. It would be good to play that game and hopefully win a game or two before AFCON starts “”

The AFCON 2023 draw was held in Abidjan on Thursday, with Nigeria placed in Group A alongside hosts Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea and Guinea-Bissau. Omeruo was part of his 2013 winning team and will aim to repeat that feat next year.
