Official: Starting XI for Nigeria vs Lesotho – Peseiro names Boniface as Osimhen’s replacement, Iheanacho skippers Super Eagles

Nigeria will qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup when they play Lesotho in a few minutes at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peceiro has named 11 players to face the Crocodiles for three points.

True to his word, the Portuguese tactician kept Omonia Nicosia goalkeeper Francis Uzoho in goal despite making mistakes in friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique last month.

Fenerbahce’s Bright Ossai-Samuel will play at right-back, while Jamil Collins, making his first international appearance in over a year, will play at full-back on the opposite flank.

The two aim to complement the central defensive duo of Semi Ajayi and Calvin Bassey and provide sufficient cover for goalkeeper Uzoho.

In Wilfred Ndidi’s absence, Brentford’s Frank Onyeka takes on the defensive midfield role, with Alex Iwobi providing creative support in the center of the park.

When Peseiro hands over the number 9 jersey to Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface, something interesting happens beforehand.

The youngster, who has already won the Bundesliga Newcomer of the Month award three times this season, is supported by Taiwo Awoniyi.

Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman is creative on the left.

At the same time, Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho will become Super Eagles captain and start on the right wing, a role dominated by AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze for several years.

Below is Lesotho’s starting eleven:

The match between Nigeria and Lesotho starts at 5pm.
