NPFL: Exciting fixtures lay ahead as Sporting Lagos get new rivals

Sporting Lagos have won the South West Derby title for the first time, but there are even more exciting derbies ahead.

Newly promoted Lagos club Sporting Lagos will welcome new intra-state rivals Inter Lagos, reports Soccernet.ng.

Sporting Lagos has achieved an unprecedented promotion to Nigeria’s professional football league. The club was founded in his 2022 year and achieved promotion to Nigeria’s top league a year later.

They achieved further success by pushing past NPFL defending champions Enyimba and defeating South West rivals Lemostars to win the inaugural edition of the Naija Super 8 tournament. Inter Lagos was born with the noisy residents of Lagos as role models.

The new club, based in Lagos, is coached and invested by some of the veterans of Nigerian football. The club’s vision is to give average Nigerian children the right to dream and a path to success through the gift of football.

Inter Lagos grows as a club for Nigerians as star players such as Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Frank Onyeka and Victor Osimhen take Nigeria proudly onto the international stage. We both want to give you the opportunity to achieve something that makes your dreams come true.

In a video released by the club, one of its co-founders, Lanre Vigo, said the club was created to give something back to society.
“Lagos has always been our home, our hometown. It is our heartbeat. We grew up with football in our blood, so we decided it was time to give back to society. I knew it,” he said.

He then explained his decision and his motivations for establishing a club in West Africa’s largest city.

“Our journey to founding Inter Lagos has been a dream rooted in culture and identity. We are a football club that Lagosians can call their own, a football club that embraces the spirit of our city. “We wanted to create a club that reflected diversity,” he added.

For him, the love of the game comes first and in a diverse country like Nigeria with different interests, football is the unifying factor.

“Today, Inter Lagos is more than just a club. It is a source of pride. A place where young talents can find a foothold and where fans can come together to celebrate their common love of football. It’s a place.”

Inter Lagos, like Italy’s AC Milan and Inter Milan, are set to begin their journey to the top of the Nigeria second-tier football league, NNL, sparking a rivalry with Sporting Lagos .
