FC Pristina head coach Emmanuel Egbo has advised Jose Peceiro to adopt a new approach to solve the Super Eagles’ goalkeeping problems, Soccernet.ng reported.

Peseiro has three young goalkeepers in the national team. Cyprus-based Francis Uzoho, Israel-based Adebayo He Adeleye, and Udinese star player Maduka Okoye.

None of these goalkeepers were able to grab the number one spot for the Super Eagles after a series of disappointing performances.

Peseiro has backed Uzoho as his first choice since managing the three-time African champions, with Adelai also making his international debut.

Before Peseiro was appointed head coach, Okoye was Nigeria’s best goalkeeper in the last African Cup of Nations.

However, Egbo is confident in the talent of Uzoho, Okoye and Adeleye, and frowns on the constant turnover of goalkeepers in the national team.

In order to get the best out of young players, former goalkeeper El Masri and Julius Berger told Peseiro that he would support one of the goalkeepers and that he would make his choice no matter what. I urged them to persevere.

“There are so many good young goalkeepers that it is difficult for coaches to identify which one,” Egbo told Tribal Football.

“In the past year or two, I’ve seen them use three or four goalkeepers in the national team in different games, and in my opinion, that’s not a good thing. ”

“For me, the goalkeeping department is not a department where you can change players frequently, unlike other departments.I think goalkeepers should be given a chance to gain experience in the national team. I think so.

“Playing for the national team is different from playing for a club team. When you play for the national team, you carry the eyes of an entire nation on your shoulders.”

Egbo is the first and only Nigerian coach to win a league title in Europe after leading KF Tirana to the Albanian Championship in 2020.

The 50-year-old tactician was appointed on October 26 and is currently in charge of Kosovo side FC Pristina.
