Ace New Zealand speedster Matt Henry has been officially ruled out of the remainder of the 2023 World Cup, forcing them to announce a replacement.
What happened to Henry?
Henry injured his hamstring a few days ago while bowling in a match against South Africa at the MCA International Stadium in Pune. Hewas forced to leave midway through the gameand was unable to play in the game other than batting at No. 11 and was unable to run.
New Zealand introduced Kyle Jamieson as cover as fast bowlers Henry, Lockie Ferguson and Jimmy Neesham were injured. However, as Henry awaited the results of the scan, he was not yet officially expelled from the tournament.
An MRI scan revealed a second degree tear in the lower part of my right thigh muscle, which will take approximately 2-4 weeks to heal. With only about two weeks left until the World Cup, New Zealand had no choice but to officially replace him in their squad.
Who is the replacement?
Jamieson, who had already flown to India to join the squad as a replacement, has been named as Henry’s replacement and will be part of the 15-man squad and available for selection for next year’s games.

Henry did well in the World Cup, taking 11 wickets in 7 matches, averaging 28.6 wickets. He spearheaded New Zealand’s melee along with Trent and his vault, but this will be a huge failure for New Zealand going forward, especially given how heated the competition is for a place in the semi-finals.
New Zealand’s next match will be against Pakistan on November 4 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. New Zealand are currently fourth in the points table with eight points from seven matches, while Pakistan are fifth with six points from as many matches. This match will greatly determine the fate of both teams in terms of qualification.
