Napoli’s Osimhen set to sign new ₦10 billion extension in less than 19 days

Napoli have been trying to persuade Osimhen to sign a new contract in recent months and it appears that both sides have reached a compromise

Super Eagles defender Victor Osimhen could sign a new top contract with Serie A champions Napoli by the end of the year, reports Soccernet.ng.

Osimhen joined Napoli from Lille in 2020 for a club-record fee of 72 million euros. After a shaky start to his first season, the 24-year-old star has picked up speed in his second season.

Osimhen helped Napoli improve to a fifth-place finish in Serie A two seasons ago, scoring 18 goals in 32 games. But he reached a whole new level last season with Partenopea, scoring 31 goals in 38 games.

His talent played a key role in helping Napoli win their first Serie A title in 33 years. He also helped the club reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time in its history.

After his great performance, several top clubs in Europe are interested in signing him. However, Napoli refused to sell and began negotiating a contract extension with the 24-year-old hitman.

Although extension negotiations appeared to be progressing smoothly, the two sides have not been able to reach a compromise since the end of last season.

There are currently rumors that Osimhen will leave Napoli next summer as his contract expires in 2025.

However, according to Napoli Magazine, what are the recent reports about Osimhen? I mean, is it? He will sign a contract extension by the end of the year. The new contract will see him earn 10 million euros (₦10 billion) annually.

This development comes after he became the first Nigerian in 24 years to win the 2023 CAF Player of the Year Award.
