The MI vs RR game is scheduled to be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday (April 1).

RR and MI have started their campaign in a contrasting fashion. While RR have won their first two games, MI have started their season with two losses in a row. In their first game, RR beat Lucknow Super Giants by 20 runs before beating Delhi Capitals by 12 runs.

On the other hand, MI’s season began with a six-run loss against Gujarat Titans. In their last game, they conceded a record total of 277/3 against Sunrisers Hyderabad and went on to lose the game by 31 runs. RR will be looking to extend their winning start while MI will be desperate to open their account. Before the game gets underway, we are taking a look at the probable playing elevens of both the teams.

MI Playing XI:

Openers: Ishan Kishan (wk), Rohit Sharma

Both Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma had got the starts in the last game against SRH but could not last long. While Kishan smashed 34 off 13 balls, Rohit was out for 26 off 12. Both the batters looked in good touch in the last outing and would be looking to score big against RR to give their team a good start.

All of MI’s middle-order batters got the runs in the last outing and they will be looking to continue the same form. Tilak Varma was the pick of the batters, scoring 64 off just 34 balls. Naman Dhir scored 30 while Hardik Pandya and Tim David scored 24 and 42* respectively.

Bowlers: Gerald Coetzee, Shams Mulani, Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah, Nuwan Thushara

MI’s bowlers will be desperate to put up a good show after the horrible performance in the last game. Barring Jasprit Bumrah, no other bowler could maintain an economy-rate of less than 10.

While Bumrah conceded 36 runs, Gerald Coetzee gave away 57 runs. The spinners – Piyush Chawla and Shams Mulani – conceded 34 and 33 runs respectively in two overs. MI could make one change to their bowling lineup and recall Luke Wood in place of Kwena Maphaka who conceded 66 runs.

RR Playing XI:

Openers: Yashasvi Jaiswal, Jos Buttler

After failing to score big in the first two games, both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler will be eyeing a good knock at the Wankhede Stadium. In the last game against DC, Jaiswal was clean bowled by Mukesh Kumar for 5 while Buttler was dismissed by Kuldeep Yadav for 11.

Middle-orders batters and allrounders: Sanju Samson (c & wk), Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, Ravichandran Ashwin
