Madrid GP gains momentum to feature on F1 calendar

The Madrid GP is gaining momentum and will be included in the F1 calendar from the 2026 season.

Adding the Madrid GP to the F1 calendar has been discussed in recent years, with Spain considering road courses around the Valdebebas area. During discussions, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya extended his contract until the 2026 season.

The track has been extensively modified to meet modern F1 and MotoGP requirements. However, behind the scenes negotiations regarding the Madrid Grand Prix continued. In Spain he was less likely to have two races held at the same time, but similar things have happened before.

With expansion to other regions around the world, it seems unlikely in the future that two F1 races will be held in the same country, Europe. The IFEMA Congress Center will be the center of the Grand Prix for the Madrid GP, scheduled for the Valdebebas region.

Depending on contractual agreements, the Grand Prix could appear on the F1 calendar from as early as 2026 or 2027. If held in 2026, two races will be held, with Barcelona hosting the Spanish GP and the road race being the Madrid GP.

According to ok Diario, a corresponding announcement will be made soon. FIA president Mohamed Ben Sulayem has agreed to host the Madrid Grand Prix and, if necessary, two further events in Spain. “It’s important to sit down at the table and negotiate what’s best for F1,” he told the newspaper. “Can there be two races in Spain?” That’s what I think.

“Then we have to look at the commercial part, but I’m sure F1 will look at this possibility. And we will work on it very well.”・It is reported that Ayuso will participate in this race. Those involved in the Madrid GP project are:

“I certainly think so, but I’m worried that inappropriate language could have a detrimental effect,” he said in an interview in May. “Madrid has the best conditions and a Grand Prix would make it one of the best in the world, thanks to the quality of the facilities, what Madrid has to offer in every aspect, the public infrastructure and the flexible and open way of life.”< /p>
