Jayant Yadav Turns Ball From Way Outside Off To Hit Leg Stump In County Championship

Watch: Jayant Yadav found huge turn to bowl Josh Bohannon in the County Championship today (September 11), spinning the ball from well outside off-stump to take out leg-stump on debut for Middlesex.

Yadav was signed to play in Middlesex’s final four games of the season, but did not play in last week’s game against Essex due to visa issues. He made his first appearance at Old Trafford in the ongoing match against Lancashire.

After bowling their first bowl of 194, Middlesex needed an early breakthrough. Josh de Keers, fresh off his eighth win against Essex, broke an early partnership and put in a legitimate performance. Yadav then produced a beauty to keep the wicket.

He threw a crazy throw to Bohannon, who was 7 of 15 at the time, and the right-hander went offside. However, the ball spun sharply on the pitch, surprising Bohannon and hitting his bat. The ball had such a sharp angle of rotation that he was thrown well wide before hitting his leg stump.

This wicket was Yadav’s first for Middlesex and kept their hopes alive of remaining in the match. Those hopes were further heightened when Du Caires scored again in the next match, sending Phil Salt off for a duck.
