“It’s the last match”– Super Eagles Coach Peseiro warns Sao Tome ahead of AFCON qualifier

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday in the final match of the AFCON qualifiers.

Super Eagles head coach Jose Peceiro stressed his team’s determination to secure a win against Sao Tome and Principe, reports Soccernet.ng.

Despite having already secured qualification to the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the Portuguese coach made it clear that his team will not take the Central African team lightly.

The Super Eagles lost just one game in five AFCON qualifiers, with Guinea-Bissau causing an upset in front of their home fans at the Abuja National Stadium. However, Nigeria won the second leg in Bissau.

Most recently, Sierra Leone held Nigeria to a 2-2 draw for 90 minutes, with Kelechi Iheanacho scoring the winning goal in the 95th minute.

Peseiro, who recently extended his contract with the Nigeria Football Federation, said in the pre-match press conference that the team is committed to winning the next game against Sao Tome, even though they have already secured qualification to AFCON. He said he was focused. p>

“Of course, it’s a game we want to win. It’s the last game in our group.” Our team is the best team in our group, so we have to finish in first place. Therefore, they must win against Sao Tome (Principe) to finish in first place. The goal of our national team is victory

“With a better team, good conditions and facilities, a good pitch and a good hotel, our goal is to beat Sao Tome and play well,” he said.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are scheduled to face Sao Tome at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Sunday, September 10, 2023.
