India v Bangladesh: Injured Shakib Al Hasan Misses Out, India Unchanged

In a major blow to Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan is not featuring in the XI for Bangladesh against India at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune today (October 19) due to injury.

Bangladesh suffered a big blow ahead of an important match against hosts India. Captain Shakib was suffering from an injury scare and missed the match. Nazimul Hossain Shanto will lead Bangladesh in his absence.

Why is Shakib not playing today?

Shakib injured his left quadriceps in Bangladesh’s last match against New Zealand. He played in the game despite the pain and underwent an ultrasound afterwards. Shanto took over as team leader as the injury did not heal in time for the match against India.

Shakib was replaced by left-arm spinner Nasoom Ahmed. Mr. Nasum has only 12 ODIs under his belt and will have a big job to do. India, on the other hand, will remain unchanged and will continue with the same starting line-up from which they achieved a comprehensive victory over Pakistan in the previous match in Ahmedabad.

India has achieved great success so far by finishing first in all three World Cup matches. They hope to continue this today (October 19) in Pune, one of his ODI venues that has seen India’s fastest scores in recent years.
