India Announce Test, ODI And T20I Squads For South Africa Tour

India have named their Test, T20I and ODI squads for the tour to South Africa that begins on December 10.

Ajinkya Rahane, vice-captain of India’s recent Test tour of the West Indies, is the biggest dropout from the red-ball side. After he batted his first half-century recall in the final of the World Test Championship, he hit three for eight in two innings. While Cheteshwar Pujara remains sidelined, India will benefit from the return of Jasprit Bumrah, who proved his fitness in the recent World Cup. He becomes the team’s vice-captain.

KL Rahul has also returned from injury but is unlikely to resume his leadership role since Yashasvi Jaiswal made his Caribbean debut a century ago. Rahul is also listed as a wicketkeeper and is likely to fall in the middle category. Mohammed Shami is included in the Test squad but his availability is dependent on his fitness.
