I Won’t Be Adventurous And Say Virat Kohli Will Do it – Brian Lara Shares His Opinion On Ace Indian Batter Breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s Record

Legendary West Indies batsman Brian Lara talks about Virat Kohli, the Indian batting champion who broke Sachin Tendulkar’s international cricket record of 100 centuries. In the recently concluded 2023 ODI World Cup in India, the 35-year-old broke Sachin Tendulkar’s milestone of 49 ODI hundreds and became the first batsman to score 50 ODI hundreds.

The real test for Virat Kohli will be to surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 100 international appearances. The Men in Blue only have five one-day internationals scheduled for next year and no word yet on his future in T20Is.

Kohli has not played in this format since December 2022. It will be a tough task for India’s top batsman to break this record as he will have little opportunity to play in the coming years.

Speaking to Ananda Bazar Patrika, Brian Lara said that Virat Kohli needs to score centuries consistently over the next few years to achieve Magnus’ record. He said that he thinks it will be difficult to break Sachin Tendulkar’s record because of this. This record has been achieved in the history of cricket and we believe it is virtually impossible for the Indian batting champion to break this record in the coming years.

“How old is Kohli now? 35 years old, right? He has scored 80 runs but still needs 20. If he scores five centuries every year, Tendulkar It will take another four years to match that, when Kohli will be 39 years old. It’s hard work, very hard work,” Brian Lara said.

“I can’t say for sure. No one can do that.” Those who say Kohli will break Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries are not taking into account the logic of cricket. The 20th century seems far away. Most cricketers cannot achieve that throughout their career. I’m not going to venture out and say Kohli will do it,” added Brian Lara.

Virat Kohli performed brilliantly in the ODI World Cup, scoring 765 runs in 11 innings, including three centuries, and was named the tournament’s man of the match. He aims to continue his good form as the star batsman’s aggressiveness brings out the best in the top batsmen of the game, which has an immediate impact on his performance.

I’m A Big Fan Of Virat Kohli’s Discipline And Dedication – Brian Lara

Brian Lara believes that age doesn’t matter for anyone, but for Virat Kohli, reaching the record of 100 centuries seems impossible. He praised the former Indian captain’s discipline and passion for the game and said he is a big fan of Virat Kohli.

“Age never stops for anyone. Kohli will continue to break many records, but 100 centuries seems to be the most difficult record. Only Kohli can come close. “I’m a big fan of his discipline and dedication. The way he prepares for a match and gives his all… it’s hard not to be a fan of his,” Lara reiterated.

“I wish him all the best. I would be very happy if he scores a century like Tendulkar. Sachin is a dear friend and as I said earlier, I am very happy. I am a big fan of Kohli,” Brian Lara further added.

As far as Indian cricket is concerned, Virat Kohli is definitely an inspiration to many in the world cricket fitness movement.

The 35-year-old is known in the sports world for his passionate play and could play an important role for his team in bigger matches. He hopes to continue his good form in the coming years.
