Holger Rune reveals how Boris Becker helps him through ‘difficult times’
Holger Ruhn and Boris Becker recently confirmed that they will continue to work together in 2024, with the Dane praising the former world number one coach.
Ruhn started training with the German player back in October. The 20-year-old at the time had been struggling since reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinals, losing 10 of his last 11 matches.
Since then, Becker has steadied the ship and was able to help Loon secure her first ATP finals appearance, having reached the semi-finals in Basel and the quarter-finals at the Paris Masters.
The Dane failed to advance from his round-robin group in Turin, despite coming one set away from eliminating eventual champion Novak Djokovic from the tournament.
However, Luhn highly praised the leadership and experience that Becker brings to the team. “I started working with Boris Becker, but it’s important for me to have a coach who has experience as a top player,” but also a top trainer. ”
He continued like this. “Every time I step on the pitch, I learn a lot. And every time I ask a question about something, I feel like I get a smart and appropriate answer. To share my thoughts with someone who was one of those… It means a lot when someone understands you. Not many people do that.”
I am very excited to continue my partnership with @holgerrune2003 in 2024. We are building a team around Holger to bring out the best version of himself, on and off the court. pic.twitter.com/O3BaicY5VA

Roon reached two Masters 1000 finals this year, in Monte Carlo and Madrid, but was only able to actually add a title to his resume in Munich.
The world No. 8 reached the quarter-finals of both Roland Garros and Wimbledon, also achieving his best Grand Slam performance to date.
However, he was unable to repeat that at the US Open and was eliminated in the first round. Luhn revealed that he believes Becker will help him learn how to be consistent throughout the season.
“I face difficult times every year, and Boris Becker also helps me with that,” said Loon. “When is the right time to take a break, when to increase or decrease the amount of training, etc.
“It’s hard when things don’t go in your favor. But I think that’s part of life, especially when you’re young. You can’t expect to know everything and do everything right. .I am learning and I want to learn. I am growing stronger mentally as I get through this difficult time.”
As far as the ATP Tour is concerned, Loon’s 2023 season may be over, but he will still be competing in Patrick Mouratoglou’s Ultimate Tennis Showdown event in London later this month.

In the baseline…
This season should be considered another successful and progressive season for Holger Ruhn, who reached his career fourth place in August. However, in the second half, he became tired and seemed to have more injuries. Therefore, Mr. Becker’s experience should help us develop better strategies to prevent this as much as possible in 2024
