Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has praised Indian fast bowler Mohammed Shami’s outstanding performance in the ODI World Cup, calling him the outstanding player of the Indian team in the tournament. The 33-year-old started the game in place of Hardik Pandya following his injury and put in an incredible performance for the Men in Blue.
The leading wicket-taker of the match, the right-arm bowler was the best player in the Indian team when it came to bowling. Mohammed Shami made his comeback for India in the Sixth League match against New Zealand and impressed everyone with his wicket-taking skills throughout the season.

In an interview with PTI, Rashid Latif believes that Mohammed Shami was the standout player of the team. Former Pakistan captain feels India’s defeat in the championship match could have been mental, even though India deserved the title, and praised the Australian team’s mental strength .
“You can see how well he did. In my opinion, he was an outstanding player for India in this World Cup,” Rashid Latif said.
“Perhaps this could be a psychological issue with the Indian players. “This team deserved to win the World Cup final, but we are not aware of our own strength and organization in this sport. We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the Australian people for once again showing their strength,” Rashid Latif added.
During the 2023 ODI World Cup, Team India gave it their all and won 9 out of 9 league matches. They then defeated New Zealand in the semi-finals by 70 points, taking the lead once again. After 10 long years, he once again failed to win his ICC title despite performing well in the league.
