“He did better in the past”- Dessers’ position at Rangers threatened as new boss makes crucial admission

Philip Clement had just taken over as Rangers manager and was not satisfied with Dessers’ performance

Rangers’ new manager Philippe Clement has admitted that Super Eagles striker Cyrille Dessers is not playing his best football for the club, Soccer reported.

Dessers moved from Cremonese to Rangers in the summer in a deal worth 5 million euros. However, the Nigerian attackers were unable to launch an attack.

Dessers played 15 games for Gyor and only scored 3 goals and provided 3 assists, which was not enough for the club. They have won nine of their 16 games this season and are currently second in the Premiership, seven points behind first-placed Celtic.

After a shaky start to the season, Michael Beal was already fired last week and Rangers announced the appointment of Clement.

The Belgian tactician has previously worked for Monaco, Club Brugge and Ghent. And he’s now trying to lead the Rangers to the title.

After his appointment, Clement expressed some thoughts about DeSaas. He believes the Eagles striker can perform even better than his performance at Rangers.

“I saw him (Dessers) playing better in Holland. In my opinion, he has done better so far with Feyenoord than here (Rangers). Clement said, via MSN

Other strikers Sam Lammers and Danilo will battle for minutes, so Dessers will need to get back to his best if he wants to earn minutes under Clement.
