Harry Brook is hoping to unveil his “pretty good” off-spin bowling in The Hundred in 2024.
England’s middle-order batsman was used as a part-time option in Tests thanks to his seam bowling and even dismissed Kane Williamson in the 2023 Wellington Classic. He has been working towards the India tour. We talked about his slow bowling, first as a joke, then more seriously than usual.
“It was a joke at first, but then I started getting pretty good at it,” Brook told reporters in the Caribbean, where England are playing a T20I series. “So I’d like to work on it and see what happens.”
Brook hinted that The Hundred, who will be representing Northern Superchargers, will be the off-spinner’s first platform rather than the India Test. He also admitted that his seam bowling is still an option.
“My goal is to bowl at the Hundred this summer and see what happens,” he said. “The seamers are still there. As we saw in the Ashes, I might be a green seamer and be needed in Test cricket for England. But I’m trying to look for a hundred. Of course I can bowl as well. Maybe not, but that’s a small goal I have, and I’m actually getting very good results, so let’s see what happens.”
That Harry Brook last over in all its glory.

Brook took nine first-class wickets at an average of 53, but only Williamson Scarp took them in Test matches. He has not yet bowled in an ODI or T20I for England.
Brook played for England in the third T20I victory over West Indies, scoring an unbeaten seven-ball 31 while chasing 223. Currently, he has scored his 400 with an average of 62 in Tests, 29 in ODIs and 28 in T20Is.
The fourth T20I of the series will be held on December 19, with England leading 2-1.
