Former UFC Star Finds Joy in $12B Company Exit, Gains Million-Dollar Success

Former UFC fighter was incredibly happy after quitting his job and making a lot of money.

American MMA athlete Impa Kasanganay currently competes in the Professional Fighters League (PFL) light heavyweight division. He previously competed at welterweight and middleweight in the UFC. Kasanganay’s wish to become a famous UFC fighter came true at UFC Fight His Island 5, but not in the way he wanted.

He scored a second round knockout over Joaquin Buckley. The stunning finish went viral on social media and became one of his most-watched highlights of 2020.

Impa Kasanganay attains a million-dollar success following his departure from the UFC

Kasanganay (14-3) was released by the UFC at the end of 2021. He then fought two matches in regional circles and joined the Professional Fighters League (PFL) in early 2023.

At the last PFL media day, he said: “Bud in Atlanta was right in his room and I remember looking at the trainer and saying, ‘Thank you UFC for making the cut,'” Kasanganay said. “I was really happy. Oh, what a situation. It was tough to fight there. All my friends were doing well there, it’s great. All the people I knew in that organization…I love the people there too, so I have nothing against them. I’m just happy with myself. Because who knows when he could get that million dollar match. ”

Shortly after the brutal knockout, Kasanganay was released from the UFC and suffered a loss in his first non-UFC bout at an Eagle FC event. To an outsider, his career looked bleak.

However, he made an impressive comeback with five straight wins, including three in a row during the 2023 PFL Light Heavyweight season. He is currently looking to win $1 million, and he is scheduled to face Josh Silveira in the season finale of the 2023 PFL Championship on November 24th at the Anthem in Washington.

Things have changed dramatically for Kasanganay, and in retrospect, he appreciates the setbacks that led to his departure from the UFC.
