Five key Super Eagles players to watch

The Super Eagles will face Mozambique on Monday and will hope for a win after a disappointing result against Saudi Arabia

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will face Mozambique on Monday at the Estadio Municipal Albufeira in one of their preparatory matches for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Soccernet reported.

The three-time African champions are favorites to win this match, but coach Jose Peceiro will be without the two-time champion. Victor Osimhen and Kelechi Iheanacho have withdrawn from the match.

But with players like Terem Moffi and Victor Boniface, Peseiro has enough firepower to take the game forward.

Soccer introduces five players who could be important for the Super Eagles on Monday.

Fisayo Dele-Bashiru

The 22-year-old attacking midfielder has been called up for these matches for the first time and is fighting for a place in the first eleven.

Dele Bashir is very quick, deadly, and very direct in one-on-one situations. He has yet to play a game for Nigeria and would like to make an impact if given the chance.

A player with fire in his belly is often dangerous to his opponents, but he reaches his full potential.

Bright Osayi-Samuel

Osai-Samuel had a great season with Fenerbahce in the Turkish Super League, appearing in five games and scoring one goal.

Ossai-Samuel is very stealthy on defense and a serious threat on offense. The 25-year-old’s impact was felt when he was introduced against Saudi Arabia and could be a deadly weapon against the Mambas.

Osai-Samuel is expected to start Monday’s match and a potential partnership with Samuel Chukwueze will reinvigorate Nigeria’s right flank.

Moses Simon

On his best days, Simon is a threat to any attack. He contributed to Nigeria’s two goals against Saudi Arabia. The Nantes player was not in the starting line-up in the last game, so he will get more minutes against Mozambique.

Simon has made an excellent start to the club with two goals and three assists in eight appearances for Nantes.

Peseiro will trust him to be a creative spark against Mozambique.

Calvin Bassey

Fulham’s star player played a very good game against Saudi Arabia. Bassey had a very solid defense. He rarely makes mistakes and he would have kept a clean sheet if it weren’t for the set-pieces that Saudi Arabia took advantage of.

Bassy is expected to start against Mozambique, so he will need to put in a strong performance to thwart Mambas’ attack.

Victor Boniface

With Osimhen absent from the game against Mozambique, Boniface will try to wreak havoc and stake his claim. They were denied a goal against Saudi Arabia, but will try to rebuild the situation next time.

Boniface is technically gifted and works hard on the pitch. In addition to his ability in front of goal, he also has a good sense of passing.

If Peseiro can set up his team correctly, Bonifatius will be outstanding.
