Ferrari trims F1 academy drivers to six in ’24 as Clear takes charge

Ferrari has cut its F1 academy to six drivers for the 2024 season, with Jock Clear set to take command for the new season.

The 2023 F1 season has concluded, and not only are teams working on their F1 programs, but academies are also taking shape. The first team to announce their line-up was Ferrari, who decided to reduce their number of drivers to his six.

With Arthur Leclerc and James Wharton leaving the academy, the team will be reduced to eight members, and Monegasse will remain in the Ferrari family, but not as a member of the academy. They will compete in one race in F2, one race in F3, two races in Formula Regional and two races in F1 Academy.

In a major change, Marco Matassa will leave the Ferrari Driver Academy and Curia will become FDA Commissioner. He will continue his second season in F2 with Prema He Racing and look after his Bearman Oliver as he aims to win the title.

Dino Veganovic will remain with Prema Racing in Formula 3 and Rafael Camara will remain with Prema Racing in the Formula Regional European Championship. The latter will be joined by Tuukka Taponen, who will compete in R-ace GP.

Two girls from the Academy, Maya Veek and Aurelia Novels, will compete in the F1 Academy. The former competes in Formula Regionals, while the latter competed in Italian Formula 4 last year and plans to race in Formula 3 in the future.

Interestingly, there will be no new players joining the academy for the 2024 season. It remains to be seen what will happen to Rene Lammers, son of Jean Lammers, who won the 2020 FDA Scouting World Finals. Here is the list –

Oliver Bearman – F2, Prema Racing

Dino Beganovic – F3, Prema Racing

Rafael Camara – Regional Formula, Prema Racing
