Osimhen will be sidelined for at least a month and Napoli will have to find a way to deal with it
Former Italy international striker David Di Michele believes that Osimhen is the only Napoli striker who can overwhelm opposition defenders, reports Soccer.
Osimhen was injured in Nigeria’s match against Saudi Arabia last Friday. The prolific 24-year-old hitman left the field just minutes into the second half with what appeared to be just a routine punch.
However, reports on Tuesday said the situation was more serious than it appeared and Osimhen would have to spend the next 40 days on the sidelines.
This injury could not have come at a worse time for Napoli, who are currently struggling. The Serie A champions have only won five of their 10 games in all competitions this season.
Former Italy international striker Di Michele said Osimhen’s absence will be felt as none of Napoli’s strikers, Giacomo Raspadori and Giovanni Simeone, can play like Osimhen.
“The match against the Nigerian player (Osimhen) is certainly different from the match between Raspadori and Simeone,” said Di MiIchele, according to Napoli magazine. and Naples Magazine
“Osimhen attacks deep like the other two don’t. Cholito may be a little more, but you can’t overwhelm the other team without the Nigerian.” < /p>
Could we rely on more of a collective game to help the team progress and play more organically?
Due to disappointing results, it looks like coach Rudi Garcia’s longevity at Napoli may not be long. He has to find a way to make the team work without Osimhen.
