Elijah Adebayo has scored nine goals in the English Premier League for Luton Town this season, with Gabriel Osho also scoring two goals in the comeback.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles have received a major boost after a recent update indicated that Luton Town duo Elijah Adebayo and Gabriel Osho are open to playing for the Nigeria national team Soccernet.ngreports.
Gabriel Adedayo Osho, 25, plays for Luton as a centre-back or full-back and was born in England but is of Nigerian descent. He played a big role in the Hatters’ promotion to the English top flight, and in 77 games he scored 5 goals.
Elijah Anuoluwapo Adebayo, 26, plays as a striker for Luton and has scored nine goals in the Premier League this season, including his famous hat-trick against Brighton & Hove Albion.
In a post published by UK-based Nigerian football administrator David Doherty, it was revealed that both players are open to donning Nigeria’s green and white colors.
Osho and Adebayo have yet to represent their country at any level, and the report notes that both players have been fans of Nigerian football since they began their careers as teenagers.
Luton Town are currently 17th in the English Premier League table, just one point out of the relegation zone, with Sean Dyche’s Everton close behind them.
Luton Town face Liverpool at Anfield on Wednesday. The previous match at Kenilworth Stadium ended in a 1-1 draw, with Jurgen Klopp’s side claiming a point thanks to Luis Diaz’s late equalizer.
