Change venues or face massive financial loss: Kamran Akmal slams Jay Shah over Asia Cup 2023

Former Pakistani wicketkeeper and batsman Kamran Akmal has voiced his frustration with weather problems at the Asian Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka. He believes the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) was fully aware of the bad weather in Sri Lanka. They probably decided to hold the event to satisfy their egos.

Akumal also hinted that ACC chairman Jay Shah will face criticism from fans looking forward to India vs Pakistan. He also argued that the tournament could have been a complete success had Pakistan had the opportunity to host all the matches.

Akumal said on his YouTube channel, “It looks like rain will affect the upcoming match in Sri Lanka. There will be huge financial losses in the millions of dollars. These losses are inevitable and caused by the egos of some people. The fans who are looking forward to India vs. Pakistan will also be frustrated. If fans don’t get what they want, they can back out. Jay Shah will almost certainly be criticized. Had they resolved their disagreements and agreed to play for Pakistan and prioritized cricket, the Asian Cup would have been a huge success. “

Notably, the Asian Cup 2023 will be co-hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan under a hybrid model. However, many matches in Sri Lanka, including the much-anticipated match between India and Pakistan, were disrupted by rain, much to the disappointment of the crowd.
